The History of Hopi Ear Candles is a long one being a natural therapy handed down through generations of ancient civilisation, most notably native American Indians from which they take there name. The ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis but later as a treatment for head and ear problems.

'HOW HOPI EAR CANDLES WORK'

The ear candling treatment is a relaxing one and the client need only concern themselves with lying in a comfortable position whilst the candle is gently inserted into the ear.

The treatment begins with a pressure point massage to aid relaxation and stimulate the sinuses. The client lies on his or her side to enable the candle to be inserted in the ear. The candles have a slight sucking action, known as "the chimney principle", drawing any impurities to the surface whilst the rising air within the ear sets up a vibration which gently massages the eardrum. Most of the impurities or deposits are carried away through the candle chimney which can be clearly seen when the candle is opened at the end of the treatment. Both ears must be treated.

The final stage of the process, is a 10 minute facial massage to aid further relaxation and as a wonderful way to complete the treatment.
